Vascular physiotherapy for treatment of chronic venous disease: review article
The objective of this literature review was to develop a protocol for treatment with vascular physiotherapy, compiling evidence of the benefits of each vascular physiotherapy technique and suggesting how they can be used for treatment of CVD. This is a review of literature investigating the subject that is listed on the LILACS and SciELO bibliographic databases and was published from 1990 to 2014. Conservative management of knee arthropathy in a patient with Klippel Trenaunay syndrome
We present the case of a patient with a diagnosis of KTS and severe knee arthropathy. A 34-year-old man with KTS was referred to our hospital with severe knee arthropathy, with the joint fixed in a 90 ° position. CT Angiography and MRI of the left leg showed important varicose development of the superficial venous system with intraarticular vessels. After discussion of the case by a multidisciplinary committee, the patient was enrolled on a physiotherapy program and had achieved significant impr ovements in movement and quality of life at 12-month follow-up. Treatment of KTS is primarily conservative and a multidisciplina...

What to use instead of NICE Evidence Search - a first thought
I have been promoting NICE Evidence Search much more systematically this year to " my " first year undergraduates in their first library session.  It is also on the resource lists I ' ve made for each of their courses.  I like the idea that there is one source, where all the results have been evaluated by health information professionals, and I ' ve suggested it ' s a good first place to search for any health topic.  But NICE Evidence Search is closing at the end of March 2022.  So what to use instead?NICE Evidence Search has two lists of sources, one of sites where some of the content is...

What to use instead of NICE Evidence Search - some recommendations (sort of)
In an earlier post I searched NICE Evidence Search (closing at the end of March 2022) and then a number of other sources to see which other sources would find the material.I found 27 results (vertigo epley was the search) in NICE Evidence Search.  5 were systematic reviews from DARE, which I decided I was not too worried about, as DARE has not been updated for some timeThen there were results from PubMed, Cochrane, BestBets, CKS, four health organisations, Patient.info, NICE and the Royal Australian College of GPs.SearchingCochraneitself found one more Cochrane review than NICE Evidence Search did.  So, more...

Neurological complications of vascular access.
Authors: Gibbons CP Abstract Neurological problems are common in patients undergoing haemodialysis. Over 60% of patients will suffer from symptoms of underlying polyneuropathy due to uraemia or diabetes. Others will have subclinical disease demonstrable by nerve conduction studies.Nerve injury following haemodialysis access surgery is underreported. However, sensory nerve lesions are probably common after most vascular access procedures but are rarely debilitating.Nerve compression syndromes such as carpal tunnel and ulnar compression syndromes are common, especially in patients who have been on dialysis for some y...

Is there a rationale for pulmonary rehabilitation following successful chemotherapy for tuberculosis?
ABSTRACT The role of tuberculosis as a public health care priority and the availability of diagnostic tools to evaluate functional status (spirometry, plethysmography, and DLCO determination), arterial blood gases, capacity to perform exercise, lesions (chest X-ray and CT), and quality of life justify the effort to consider what needs to be done when patients have completed their treatment. To our knowledge, no review has ever evaluated this topic in a comprehensive manner. Our objective was to review the available evidence on this topic and draw conclusions regarding the future role of the "post-tuberculosis treatment" ph...

No entanto, ainda permanece incerto, qual modalidade de treinamento físico promove maiores aumentos na capacidade de caminhada dos pacientes. The impact of peripheral arterial disease on exercise tolerance and quality of life in the elderly and the role of cardiovascular physiotherapy: review article

End-of-life care in Brazilian Pediatric Intensive Care Units
CONCLUSION: Most professionals felt unprepared to forego life-sustaining treatment. Even for terminally ill patients, withholding is preferred over the withdrawal of treatment. Socio-cultural barriers and the lack of adequate training may be contributing to insecurity in the care of terminally ill patients, diverging from practices in other countries.PMID:36963435 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2023.02.003
